UI Practice
At the start of the pandemic I took a few courses in UX/UI. Below are just a few samples of my student work. All screens were created in Figma.
PetPro Connect App ReDesign
Problem
The PetPro Connect app has several UX/UI issues. Mainly, the information architecture is confusing and with that it has more than one place to find a single function. This made it hard to understand where you were in the app, adding to the cognitive load.
Solution
I reduced the content from the home page, since things are accessible via the fixed tab navigation, to which I’ve added clear labels. To prevent the user from going further into the app, I introduced a tab feature to toggle between clinic info and appointments. I also noticed that the app doesn’t utilize the brand colors, so I matched the colors according to their website.
I submitted a wireflow for the task of scheduling an appointment. Included, are a few of my sketches from a crazy-8’s exercise.
Blackboard Redesign
Problem
Blackboard has a number of issues, from their navigation and wayfinding to CTA’s and link treatments. I wanted to propose an alternative that would create a more seamless and efficient experience.
Solution
My design proposal streamlines navigation through the use of a dropdown menu via the profile icon and a secondary level of navigation. The design also establishes priorities through layout and hierarchy, addresses wayfinding issues by adding escape hatches and breadcrumbs, and creates emphasis on tasks by way of links and buttons.

Below is a sampling of designs prompted by the Daily UI Challenge. I made these when I first gained an interest in UI and Visual Design in 2018 and wanted some personal practice.
